Unitronics Hardware Activation
What is Unitronics Hardware Activation?
Hardware Activation registers a UniStream controller and any connected Uni-I/O modules with Unitronics. Hardware Activation is mandatory for UniStream controllers. During the activation process, the serial numbers of the controller and any physically connected Uni-I/O modules are sent to Unitronics, along with the activation date.
What data is sent to Unitronics during Hardware Activation?
During the activation process, the serial numbers of the controller and any physically connected Uni-I/O modules are sent to Unitronics, along with the activation date.
When do I have to activate my hardware?
In all cases where you must perform Hardware Activation, the controller will display an Activation Required screen.
Hardware Activation is mandatory when:
- The hardware has not yet been activated
- You replace either the HMI panel, the CPU and one I/O module, or two or more Uni-IO modules
In both cases, you must carry out activation within 750 hours (working hours, which means time that the controller is powered on). The 750 hour countdown begins when you download an application to the controller with a hardware configuration that matches the hardware physically connected to the controller.
If you download an application from UniLogic the hardware is automatically activated.
What happens if I do not perform Hardware Activation?
Failure to activate the controller within the 750 hour timeframe will cause the HMI application to freeze, continuously displaying the Activation screen, although the PLC application will continue to run after this time.
Hardware Activation Methods
You can activate hardware, quickly and easily.
- Activation via HMI panel – if the controller is connected to the internet
- Activation via HMI panel + Mobile App – if the controller is not connected to the internet
